Could everyone write one simple essay about something that once happened in Saltaire…that they saw or were a part of…and put it on one big website? Somebody should collect a lot of stories before we all forget. Otherwise it is like a line in “On The Beach” : The history of the war that now would never be written.” -(JO'H)

MEANWHILE:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
BIG NYC MEETING ON SATURDAY FOR OCEAN BEACH RESIDENTS, BUT OPEN FOR ALL.
YOU ARE NOT GOING TO SALTAIRE, SO YOU MIGHT AS WELL GO THERE. SOUNDS LIKE THEY MAY HAVE SOME USEFUL GENERAL INFORMATION.

OPEN MEETING IN NYC SPONSORED BY OBA, OPEN TO ALL:

Ocean Beach is holding an open meeting to discuss the status of the town and plans for rebuilding.

This meeting will be OB focused, but should provide interesting info for any FI homeowner. (emphasis added).

Saturday, November 10th, at 3 PM in NYC

The OBA, in partnership with Jimmy Mallott, has coordinated a meeting in NYC for all Ocean Beach residents to attend and hear from Jimmy Mallott, OBFD Chief, OBPD Chief, representatives from town and county administrations, FEMA liaisons and representatives from the larger Insurance Companies servicing Fire Island.

The meeting will be held this Saturday, November 10th, at 3 PM at All Soul’s Church, 1157 Lexington Avenue, at 79th Street.

The meeting will be held in the church itself, NOT the basement rec room we usually use for our Winter Meetings.

This is still very much a work in progress, but we hope to be able to share photographs from Ocean Beach. Residents from our neighboring communities are also welcome.

This is INSANE. Do year rounders pay more taxes?

I don't have a dog in this fight since my family doesn't have a house in Saltaire anymore, but I would think the homeowners would be storming the Island with clubs and pitchforks by now. Every day of delay is adding 10s of thousands of dollars in additional damage. They won't let homeowners back because they don't have sufficient EMT coverage? They never had EMT's in Saltaire until the 1970's. They don't want homeowners back because of the compromised cesspools? Have they ever heard of Port-o-Potties?
