Could everyone write one simple essay about something that once happened in Saltaire…that they saw or were a part of…and put it on one big website? Somebody should collect a lot of stories before we all forget. Otherwise it is like a line in “On The Beach” : The history of the war that now would never be written.” -(JO'H)

Jimmy- Great shot of the Wireless tower. Where did you find it? Whose houses are depicted in the Tennis Court pic?

both are from old postcards. I also have a snap shot taken by Joseph Lynch that shows the wireless tower. That is, I believe, the tower that the ancient old snow covewred lady crawled up in the middle of the night on a freezing night and terrorized the telegraph keeer, I guess.

Tennis courts are you asking me????
I assume that is looking toward Marine and therefore the houses are the McManus house and the original Cunningham house: Don't you think??

I have an equally old reverse angle photo of the tennis court lookiing east, before the Village Hall was built (1936).
