Could everyone write one simple essay about something that once happened in Saltaire…that they saw or were a part of…and put it on one big website? Somebody should collect a lot of stories before we all forget. Otherwise it is like a line in “On The Beach” : The history of the war that now would never be written.” -(JO'H)

Sacred Ding Dong

St. Andrew's Church (the chocolate one) is dedicating its bell this Saturday 5-6 PM. All are welcome. ...... see earlier POSTS in this here Blog for related church bell stories.....http://saltaire38.blogspot.com/search?q=Bells+are+ringing

It’s Déjà vu all over again, or " Bells are Ringing," (again)

St. Andrew’s Bell has been re hung and Saturday evening it will re rung at a re dedication ceremony. Mark that on your calendar: Saturday Evening, August 8. (5-6 PM). We hear there will be a Quasimodo Look- Alike Contest, so please dress appropriately.

God bless St. Andrews and God Bless the Bell and God Bless the real reason for the Bell:

WHO CAN SAY WHEN THE REAL REDEDICATION WILL COME?

Who will ring it first in the wee hours of the morning????
.
We hear that COSIMODO is due back in Saltaire this weekend

-- and maybe Robin Wright, too. And Richard Campbell can not be far behind. After all it was Robin's father Mayor Bob Wright, along with his pal Paul W. Connelly Jr., who invented the tradition. Looks like the stars are in alignment for a re union of all of Saltaire's greatest Bill ringers.

Will the Saltaire tradition live on?

And speaking of bells, we see that the Fire Department has resurrected a fire alarm bell and hung it on Broadway and Pomander. This too, is a revival of an ancient tradition. Below is is little Joseph Lynch on the Village fire bell way back in the early 1920’s.
Fine traditions. Carry them on.

Will Cosmomodo be there?

I left a message for Chip last week, but haven't had an answer. I'm pretty sure he is out haunting the "territorial waters" around Saltaire. I hope he survives his vacation without a confrontation with the local constabulary.

Trivia question: Where would Saltaire EVER have held a prisoner on a BWI charge?

I guess the late Morgan Bentley will be there in spirit as well. Also is there anyone daring enough to paint white lines down Broadway this time as well?

I'm guessing that was Oliver "Chip" Hull posing to ring the bell- now photoshop in gray hair to update the image :)
