Could everyone write one simple essay about something that once happened in Saltaire…that they saw or were a part of…and put it on one big website? Somebody should collect a lot of stories before we all forget. Otherwise it is like a line in “On The Beach” : The history of the war that now would never be written.” -(JO'H)

A Very Nice Sign

Credit where credit is due. Over the winter, we posted images of some of Saltaire's unfriendly signs. This sign is a great improvement. It tells a stern message but states it nicely.

I have heard the mermaids singing, each to each.

I do not think that they will sing to me.

I have seen them riding seaward on the waves
Combing the white hair of the waves blown back
When the wind blows the water white and black.

And a nice photo too. I love the peeling wave in the background. Looks like a healthy north westerly breeze. Thanks Justin.

Derf: were you thinking of Prufrock?:

Yes Prufrock was exactly what I was thinking. I posted another image with a slightly heavier offshore breeze blowin'.

Wow, George Fontanals Jr. (DERF): That second picture is awesome. It looks unnatural. How come that one wave is blown back so much with no visible effect on the other waves? Since we know the mermaids have no interst in you, was this a picture of a massive DERF wipe-out?
