Could everyone write one simple essay about something that once happened in Saltaire…that they saw or were a part of…and put it on one big website? Somebody should collect a lot of stories before we all forget. Otherwise it is like a line in “On The Beach” : The history of the war that now would never be written.” -(JO'H)

It's not the flag that is backwards, rather it is the Saltaire Gendarmes that are backwards.

Quick - someone wake Phil up - it looks like he's asleep

As far as Saltaire's Constabulary always being awake, I would dispute that. Almost every morning shift I had, I would have to go to Mark Heller's house and get the walkie-talkie,as he always slept through his shift!

THE LONG HAIRED FREAKS - THEY LOOK LIKE ANARCHISTS - THEY'RE PROBABLY GOING TO TAKE OLD GLORY OUT AND BURN IT ALONG WITH THEIR DRAFT CARDS

Get those Hippies off the stage---and into uniforms! Little did they know what subversives they were or would become.

Didn't you really mean to say what perverts they were or would become?

Perverts????? To quote folksingers Peter, Paul @ Mary----"PREVERTS---the child's life is ruined". The stress of protecting the village took its toll--many Police/Security alums still suffer from PES--Post Enforcement Syndrome--"Please get off the bicycle you are riding at night illegally", was often met with hostility and physical intimidation---we needed Taser guns, Mace and Lollipops to properly enforce the rules--sadly all Mayor Ervin and the other elected officials wanted the "Force" to do was "pledge" not to inhale the smoke a particular herb which was popular at the time----- "while on duty"!!! This draconian violation of our ability to enjoy "life liberty and the pursuit of happiness" while at work, was overwhelmingly voted down by force members at a joint session of the membership held in the old "horseshoe shaped" officials table at Village Hall.

You say that this violation of your civil rights was voted down at a "JOINT" session of the membership of the Force? Were the ballots taken on Zig-Zag rolling paper? Any possibility of a lawsuit against the village for violating your civil rights at this late date?
