Could everyone write one simple essay about something that once happened in Saltaire…that they saw or were a part of…and put it on one big website? Somebody should collect a lot of stories before we all forget. Otherwise it is like a line in “On The Beach” : The history of the war that now would never be written.” -(JO'H)

ANGER RISING AMONG FIRE ISLAND OWNERS

NOTE: THIS IS NOT, REPEAT, NOT A POST ABOUT ANYTHING OR ANYBODY IN SALTAIRE.
WE SEE LOTS OF POSTS FROM OTHER FIRE ISLAND COMMUNITIES. NOTE THE SUBTEXT IN THIS REPORT FROM THE PRESIDENT OF THE OCEAN BAY PARK PROPERTY OWNERS ASSOCIATION. KEEP IN MIND THAT OBP IS NOT EVEN IN THE SAME TOWN AS SALTAIRE. SALTAIRE IS NOT IN BROOKHAVEN.

MORE IMPORTANTLY, SINCE YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO GO TO SALTAIRE  UNLESS YOU LIVE THERE YEAR ROUND, WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU GO TO A MEETING SET UP BY THE OTHER INCORPORATED VILLAGE ON FIRE ISLAND,   OCEAN BEACH. THAT MEETING IN NYC THIS SATURDAY,  IS OPEN FOR ALL, EVEN THOUGH IT IS OB ORIENTED. SO FAR AS WE KNOW, SALTAIRE HAS NOT SCHEDULED ANYTHING LIKE THIS.   WE SUGGEST YOU GO THERE SINCE YOU ARE NOT GOING TO SALTAIRE.

Dear All,

I just want to clarify a few items for everyone in OBP,

I have been in contact with the Chief Commissioner of Public Safety and Policy Anthony Gallino (spelling) and also reached out to our supervisors for Fire Prevention in Brookhaven. I understand everyone's frustration in getting out to the island and as I have said earlier, when the Fire Chiefs for each community on the island (whether all or just ours) in Brookhaven give the green light that things are secured and safe for all of us that we will be going back to the island. I am promised a call every day giving me updates. If you do not like the policy or the system, when all of this is done, form a committee and go to Brookhaven with some real ideas and plans and make it happen for all of us. In the meantime be as patient as possible and know that our OBPFD and the Association are doing the best we can.

As for the meeting at All Souls. Attached is information and it can be Googled and the calendar for their site lists the information. To be very clear this is an Ocean Beach Meeting. There will be general information that applies to all residents of the Island FEMA, Insurance and other items BUT THIS IS FOR OCEAN BEACH. We are two townships. If you are going to the meeting thinking this is a questions and answer from OBP residents, venting session, well ...it is not that type of meeting. I know we are all on edge and anxious and you will do what you want but try and listen, as I will be and where there are holes for our community and others in Brookhaven with regards to communication well as I said form a committee and go to Brookhaven with solutions for the next time (and yes there is always a next time)

See you then

Steven Jaffe
President OBPA
