Could everyone write one simple essay about something that once happened in Saltaire…that they saw or were a part of…and put it on one big website? Somebody should collect a lot of stories before we all forget. Otherwise it is like a line in “On The Beach” : The history of the war that now would never be written.” -(JO'H)

SALTAIRE BLOG TO END IN 2012?

Maybe we will take it down and put what we have in a book.
Not many people read blogs anymore, because of text messaging and social media.
We thought it was worth it, but nobody is passing along stories to us anymore.

Gentle breath of yours my sails must fill

Or else my project fails,
Which was to please.

I'm a fan of your blog and I'd hate to see it go. I don't spend a lot of time in Saltaire, so I don't have anything to contribute myself. Sorry.

If you could just post something every now and then--a photo or local news story--just to keep it going.

Good Luck in 2012...

Please don't take it down. It is fun for the new people to see a history of Saltaire.

I hope you will leave it UP Jimmy. There is still a lot of history to be dredged up, and many, many pictures to be shared. Some of the recent emails SHOULD go on the blog. AND I sometimes lack the courage to put up some of the darker stuff that I know--don't know why, but the pictures of lovely Saltairians, and the great and pretty stories make those darker stories less palatable for this blog. Maybe there needs to be a section for DARK stories....

Don't know. But this has been a wonderful endeavor, and I suspect if you are thinking of turning it into a book you are going backwards in terms of likely readership...

A wonderful site that provides much joy (especially in the winter). A post here or there is enough to keep the site up. Wonderful job.
