Could everyone write one simple essay about something that once happened in Saltaire…that they saw or were a part of…and put it on one big website? Somebody should collect a lot of stories before we all forget. Otherwise it is like a line in “On The Beach” : The history of the war that now would never be written.” -(JO'H)

Nice seeing the Saltaire Water Tower once again in it's full grand upright position- and still operational from the time of this photo.

Wow- nice vintage pictures Jim.
The old Isle of Fire II - ASR hull- built in 1949 in Miami Florida. Also the Cherry Grove- boy this brings back memories- built in 1932 in Sayville - single screw boat about 43 feet in length with color scheme of white hull with Gray upper deck and green top- just like the Running Wild.
Good to see the Great South Bay ferries once again
