Could everyone write one simple essay about something that once happened in Saltaire…that they saw or were a part of…and put it on one big website? Somebody should collect a lot of stories before we all forget. Otherwise it is like a line in “On The Beach” : The history of the war that now would never be written.” -(JO'H)

That Time of Year

This was the time of year as Saltaire teenagers that we would start becoming independent, going around over Christmas vacation visiting each other. Driving up to Connecticut; meeting in "the city"; going to the Boat Show, etc. without our parents taking us. Part of growing up, I guess.

Jimmy, I heard the St. Andrews by the Sea Bell from here in the city. I knew some of the old gang would be there to bring in the the New Year, and bring in the Centennial year. Lord Salt would be very happy.

INDEPENT IN OUR TEENS?? YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING. MOST OF US ARE NOW SENIOR CITIZENS AND STILL HAVEN'T GROWN UP OR FIGURED THINGS OUT.
BABY BOOMERS?? WE SPENT OUR EARLY YEARS IN DIAPERS AND WILL PROBABLY SPEND OUR GOLDEN YEARS CLAD IN DEPENDS.

I meant to say INDEPENDENT not INDEPENT. I will convey to my fellow baby boomers that they consider puchasing the super absorbent DEPENDS rather than the standard ones. In these tough economic times the super absorbent DEPENDS are a much better value for your money.
