"In the time of your life--live." That time is short and it doesn't return again. It is slipping away while I write this and while you read it, and the monosyllable of the clock is Loss, loss, loss, unless you devote your heart to its opposition (--Tennesse Williams)
Could everyone write one simple essay about something that once happened in Saltaire…that they saw or were a part of…and put it on one big website? GREAT MOMENTS IS SALTAIRE HISTORY: COMMODORE SCANLAN SHOCKS SALTAIRE YACHT CLUB CROWD BY EASING DRESS RULES, 1969
"CRUISE WEAR" for men and (OMIGOSH) PANTS SUITS FOR LADIES were first permitted in the SYC in 1969. That old Harry Scanlan was a real sixties revolutionary, wasn't he?
That and some other news from the July 11, 1969 SALTY SPRAY:
P.S. we hear that lately Saltaire Young 'uns on their own are starting to adapt to pre-Scanlan dress codes on Big Nites Out at the Club.
