Who put the “Salt” in the Beach development?
Who put the “aire” in the project prospectuses?
Who was that man?
I’d like to shake his hand
He gave this strip of beach the name “Saltaire”

I always wondered who had the audacity of hype in naming a summer resort like Saltaire Fire Island after the Lord Titus Salt’s world famous idealistic factory town of Saltaire, Bradfordshire. http://www.saltairevillage.info/ . Like, did you ever think of Saltaire Fire Island as a refuge for the working class hero? http://www.lyrics007.com/John%20Lennon%20Lyrics/Working%20Class%20Hero%20Lyrics.html
Turns out, wouldn’t you know, that the investor at the Fire Island Beach Development Corporation who gave Saltaire its name was a wealthy yachtsman.

I believe the missing link, is that pre revolution, the King of England had given title to a large part of long island (including fire island) to the Earl of Salt. (Who lived in Salt upon Aire ; the river Aire in Northern England)
Is there any possibity that we could give Saltaire back to Her Royal Highness Queen Elizabeth II? Or at least have her assume some of the local real estate tax burden?
JOH: Hey, NLP:
Was the Earl of Salt related to the Duke of Earl?
