Could everyone write one simple essay about something that once happened in Saltaire…that they saw or were a part of…and put it on one big website? Somebody should collect a lot of stories before we all forget. Otherwise it is like a line in “On The Beach” : The history of the war that now would never be written.” -(JO'H)

A free trip on the Fire Islander for anyone who can guess the name of the red-headed lady.

Maid Marion?

I think I see Marie Aherne on the left.

No, it's not Maid Marion, although you're getting warm in determining the identity of the Lady in Red.
She was one of Maid Marion's drinking partners.

One of Maid Marion's most notable claims to fame is when she hit Captain Frank Mina over the head with her purse when he tried to collect her ferry fare.

That Cap'n Frank - he wins the trip on the Fire Islander!! Too bad that Maid Marion isn't around to hit him over the head with her purse when he tries to collect her fare.

The 2 at the right end facing forward are Jim Nelson and Maurice Piccari, 2 friends of mine from Bay Shore High School. Facing them is Patty Shea. My best guess is that the year was 1969.
