Could everyone write one simple essay about something that once happened in Saltaire…that they saw or were a part of…and put it on one big website? Somebody should collect a lot of stories before we all forget. Otherwise it is like a line in “On The Beach” : The history of the war that now would never be written.” -(JO'H)

COURTESY DUNCAN DOBIE

1959 WAS DUNCAN DOBIE'S LAST SUMMER IN SALTAIRE, AND THIS PICTURE IS A DETAIL FROM A SHOT AT THE LABOR DAY TRACK MEET. I WONDER IF DUNCAN REALIZED THEN THAT IT WOULD BE 49 YEARS UNTIL HE HEARD FROM ALL OF US AGAIN.

ANOTHER '59 SHOT COURTESY DUNCAN DOBIE WAS POSTED LAST WEEK HERE: http://saltaire38.blogspot.com/search?q=LOU

AT ANY RATE: HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN YOU ID FROM THIS '59 PHOTO OF FANS WATCHING A RACE?
