Could everyone write one simple essay about something that once happened in Saltaire…that they saw or were a part of…and put it on one big website? Somebody should collect a lot of stories before we all forget. Otherwise it is like a line in “On The Beach” : The history of the war that now would never be written.” -(JO'H)

TREASURES FROM THE WEINLANDT ARCHIVES

BILL WEINLANDT OFTEN HAD A CAMERA AND A LIGHT METER AT SALTAIRE EVENTS IN THE 1950s and 1960's.

We have already posted that great beach scene a couple days ago and another picture of two unknown kids at the Club, and now here are two groups of three. Names you will know
Name 'em. Thanks Jeff, Priscilla and Danny for lending some of your Dad's great camera work to saltaire38.blogspot.com

The center person in the top photo has got to be my mom, Priscilla. But who are the people with her?

DEAR DANA:

UNCLE JEFF HAS NOT TOLD US, SO THE EDITORS DO NOT KNOW FOR SURE. UNDER THOSE CIRCUMSTANCES, AN EDITOR CAN GUESS. SINCE MY CO-EDITOR DERF WAS NOT EVEN BORN AT THE TIME OF THE PICTURE (BY A LONG SHOT) I WILL TAKE A STAB:

I THINK THE GIRL ON THE RIGHT IS ANITA WILSON. THE LITTLE GIRL ON THE LEFT? I THINK IT IS EITHER CATHY LEE GIFFORD, OR KELLY PIPER OR KELLY RIPA, OR REGIS PHILBIN.

Dana,
The girl on the left is Stacey Piper in 1955 (she is my age) and the girl on the far right was one of Priscilla's closest friends at the time, Anita Wilson (Priscilla's age).

Anita looks a lot older than Priscilla in that picture.

we have posted a previous picture from the same summer (1955) of Anita's brother Paul Wilson playing horse shoes with another Saltaire classic, Chuck Foster.
