Could everyone write one simple essay about something that once happened in Saltaire…that they saw or were a part of…and put it on one big website? Somebody should collect a lot of stories before we all forget. Otherwise it is like a line in “On The Beach” : The history of the war that now would never be written.” -(JO'H)

As I was looking at the photo of YE OLD WELL I could not help but notice the house in the back left. Probably because my family lived there for about 6 or 7 summers. I am quite certian that this is the HILL HOUSE. I heard it sold this fall at a record price. We had some great times there.
THE LAYOUT OF THIS PICTURE IS CONFUSING. IF THE WELL IN THIS PICTURE IS IN THE SAME LOCATION AS IT IS TODAY, THIS PICTURE IS OF BROADWAY LOOKING SOUTH TOWARD THE OCEAN; TODAY THE HILL HOUSE IS NORTH OF THE OLDE WELL. I KNOW A LOT OF HOUSES FLOATED AROUND IN '38, SO ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE, BUT A LOT OF MIKE COFFEY HOUSES WERE SIMILAR, SO MAYBE YOU ARE LOOKING AT A LONG LOST TWIN.
That is absolutely the Hill house, which is now owned by Bob and Joan Cox.
The Hill house did have a sister house, which is currently owned by the Weinrib family and sits on Pacific Walk, it is doubtful that Mike Coffey made three identical homes.
